Question: Where can I find a free alternative for Microsoft Office?
Answer: There is an excellent free program called OpenOffice. You can download it from www.openoffice.org. OpenOffice is nearly identical to Microsoft office and includes "Writer" which is their version of Microsoft Word. A document created in Writer can be saved as a .doc and opened on another computer using Microsoft Word with no problems. This way you can bring documents to work or school without any issues, even if they are using Microsoft Office. "Calc" is just like Excel. OpenOffice contains many other components that can get just about any job done that you would normally do in Microsoft Office.
