Question:
What's a dual layer DVD?

Answer:
When DVD-R disks came out they had one layer, your computer could burn information onto this layer of dye, and store it that way. Now they've created dual layer disks(your dvd drive needs to be dual layer compatable) these disks have (you guessed it) two layers of dye that the computer can store data on. This almost doubles the capacity of the disk. A standard DVD-R is 4.7 GB while a dual layer disk is 8.4 GB. DVD movies have always been dual layer, unlike DVD-R disks.
